Bird adoption

We have adopted a Native Kea as our class bird. Kea are endangered in NZ. Children worked hard at home to raise money to pay for the bird adoption. We have researched about the Kea- we have learnt all about their habitat, predators, physical features and behavior. Come in to Room 33 to see our wonderful descriptions on our enviro wall!

We care for our environment

Environmental Education
Room 33 have worked hard to come up with an environmental action plan to care for and sustain their surrounding environment on the junior side of the school.

They came up with the Kakariki Kiwi programme- which is an action plan to support teachers and students with sustaining water and electricity on the junior side as well as picking up rubbish to leave the grounds and gully litter free.

Here is what they came up with...

Class checklist

(Please go through and tick after morning tea and lunch each day)
As a class have we been:
o Keeping the junior site litter free?
o Putting rubbish in the correct bin?
o Saving electricity by turning off the lights when we are not in the classroom?
o Saving electricity by turning off the smart board when we are not using it?
o Saving water by turning off the tap when we are finished washing our hands?
o Saving water at the drinking fountains by using it smartly?

We all have the RESPONSIBILITY
